Add to the list of fire heroes: The Revitalization Partners’ Group (RPG) which was instrumental in FireAid, a star-studded benefit concert for fire disaster relief. RPG is currently in talks with the City of Santa Monica to revitalize the famed Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.

FireAid was conceived and led by Irving Azoff and principals of RPG, including Tim Sexton, a veteran producer of music fundraisers for social causes. Sexton, who lost his home in the Palisades fire, stepped up to run production for FireAid. Live Nation, which operates the Forum and is also part of the RPG team, hosted one of the two FireAid venues.

FireAid ticket sales and sponsorships exceeded $60 million leading up to the mega benefit.

“It's beyond incredible to me, for both our city’s long-term economic prospects and cultural profile, that talented, able, generous people like these two want to renovate the Civic Auditorium and bring it back to life in an amazing, top-level way.”

-  Ann Hoover Bowman, Recreation and Parks Commissioner, Santa Monica.

“Finding a credible entity suited to both restoring this historic site and running it as a first-class arena seemed like an impossible task. But the perfect team stepped forward, made up of local entrepreneurs who saw this as a business opportunity as well as a chance to resurrect something that had been so influential in their own lives.”

-  Save the Civic Steering Committee

“Santa Monica has a once in a generation opportunity to reawaken the historic Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. When revitalizated, this unique Landmark will be the cornerstone of Santa Monica’s resurging economic vitality downtown.”

– Nina Fresco, Planning Commissioner, Santa Monica
